2022 has been another benchmark year at Groundhog Landscaping. We have been busy little beavers – er, groundhogs – moving mounds of earth and doing a quantity & quality of work that surprises even us. To us, running a large landscaping company isn’t just about the money – it’s about setting goals and rising to the challenges that face us as we grow. It’s about coming up with creative solutions to meet the needs of our customers, employees, and partners.
Here are just a few of the milestones we have hit in 2022 and what we are looking forward to in 2023:
- Employee retention has improved much this year and we have been able to attract experienced workers with new incentive programs for production and company image. Groundhog now offers a guaranteed 40 hours through the winter for experienced equipment operators.
- Our hardscaping crew pushed through some very large landscape projects despite the hot conditions with phenomenal results. Their skill and efficiency have improved a lot. In 2023, they will only be taking on larger landscape projects.
- We’ve added more equipment to our commercial snow operations; with some 30 loaders and plows on multiple sites. Our growth in commercial snow services has enabled us to win the Anheuser-Busch contract as well as other large sites like ARAMARK.
- Our materials processing services cranked out over 100,000 yards of screened loam and 60,000 yards of clean fill. On-site screening services will be scaled back in 2023. We have gotten final approval for a gravel pit on 18 acres of land in Chester. There are an estimated 2.5 million cubic yards of available earth products on-site.
- As the company has grown, we have materials and resources to take on larger projects. Plans are on the table for opening a division in the lakes region. And, speaking of the lakes region, we have a very large Governor’s Island landscaping project on the schedule for 2023.
Our customers are more important to us than ever.
Despite the remarkable growth and changes that have occurred, we never forget where we came from and who got us here. Now more than ever, we appreciate feedback from our customers and partners on how we are doing and what things we could improve upon. We look forward to another awesome, “ground-breaking” year in 2023!
